I make my own which gives me the opportunity to go through the books one more time and identify areas that need attention. This method has worked well for all my GIAC certs. 0. Other sources for discrete mathematics are Rosen (Rosen, ) and Jim Aspens’ online book (Aspens, ). Lewis and Zax (Lewis, Zax, ), as well as the online book of Fleck (Fleck, ), give a more gentle overview of the much of the same material.

The book can serve as an introduction of the probability theory to engineering students and it supplements the continuous and discrete signals and systems course to provide a practical perspective of signal and noise, which is important for upper level courses such as the classic control theory and communication system design/5(6).   Discrete Mathematics is a term that is often used for those mathematical subjects which are utterly essential to computer science, but which computer scientists needn’t dive too deeply into. But Khan Academy doesn’t cover this in its core mathematics, which culminates in the harder (IMO) calculus subjects, it must be admitted.

This book requires knowledge of Calculus 1 and Calculus 2. This is the first book of examples from the Theory of Probability. This topic is not my favourite, however, thanks to my former colleague, Ole Jørsboe, I somehow managed to get an idea of what it is all about/5(30). Kalmanson. A very good textbook for discrete mathematics at an undergraduate level is the Kenneth Rosen book titled Discrete Mathematics and Its Applications.

The book provides solutions to half of the problems. You can also buy the Student's Solutions Guide.I don't own it, but I would suspect that it either provides the answers to the other half of the questions or provides a step-by-step guide to. Discrete math could still ask about the range of a function, but the set would not be an interval.

Consider the function which gives the number I/M Intro Discrete Math book children of each person reading this. What is the range. I'm guessing it is something like $$\{0, 1, 2, 3\}\text{.}$$ Maybe 4 is in there too. To start, I'm a sophmore engineering student who is in the middle of a discrete mathematics class using this book.

This is a huge bulky ses are very easy and repeats a little. You can find good hints to the odd-numbered problems at the back of the book which is huge plus if you are self st.

The best intro book I found in discrete math is Zybooks' on Discrete Mathematics. iirc covers: Propositional Calculus, Set theory, Induction, I/M Intro Discrete Math book Induction, Recurrence, Recursion, Graph theory, Crypto, Discrete Probability, intro algorithms, intro algorithm analysis and a lot of other stuff.

Specifically, you may not be in contact with any other person in our class (Math Section Spring ) in any way on any topic, unless you request and obtain an exception from me for some reason.

NO CALCULATORS/SOFTWARE. You may not use calculators, Wolfram Alpha, or any software, to aid in answering questions. OPEN BOOK. I had this book for a discrete math class about 10 years ago.

I'm glad I held onto it. It's been great for a proofs class which uses a completely indecipherable text (A Transition to Advanced Mathematics). The text has answers for odd problems. The solution manual for the 4th Edition is still out there, I got a copy a month ago thru Amazon.4/5(23).
